About Us

The USGBC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, a nonprofit (501[c][3]) organization that is governed entirely by volunteers who serve without recompense, has three extremely active Branches under its organizational umbrella -- the Tampa Bay Branch, the Myakka River Branch, and the Southwest Florida Branch. Our Chapter family has nearly 1,000 dedicated Members and Friends, and would enthusiastically welcome you and your business to our group.

USGBC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter members are engaged in numerous educational and outreach activities, making a real difference in our community. It’s through the work of our volunteers on various committees at the three Branches that our Chapter's education and advocacy efforts flourish.

"This transformative movement -- recognizing that sustainability is the key to a prosperous future -- simply doesn't happen without the tireless work and unyielding dedication of our valued members, volunteers and
sponsors. Our volunteers never cease to amaze, humble and inspire me."
Lacey H.C. Willard, Volunteer and President
USGBC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter

Our Chapter members know that our buildings and communities define our lives. They are habitat. Shelter. Places for assembly or sanctuary. Work and play. But they are also our front line of defense in battling climate change and the final piece of a complex puzzle in how we create communities that enhance our lives.

We build green buildings and communities. Energy-efficient, water-efficient, daylight-filled, toxin- and-pollutant-free buildings in walkable communities with access to fresh food and green space, with recycling and composting on the premises. It takes all of us working together to fashion these places that protect our planet and nourish our souls. And we’re creating more of them every day.

There are hundreds people in our Gulf Coast communities who are undertaking this important work. They are engineers, architects, developers and building facility managers. They are lawyers, scientists, business owners, manufacturers and writers. They are teachers and students.
